About Us

A Local Startup

McCurdy Appraisals started with Brent McCurdy. After working as a journeyman auto body mechanic, Brent left the trade in 1989 to start appraising as an independent. And, for 11 years, McCurdy remained under sole proprietorship.

After immense growth, McCurdy Appraisals was incorporated in 2001. With 10 years of solid industry experience, Brent began to expand his employee base to better serve his customers. Trevor McCurdy started to take on larger roles and other appraisers were hired to fill the customer demand. McCurdy Appraisals continued growing to where it is today.

A Family Business

In the days before technology, McCurdy Appraisals ran on family and hard work. In the early years, everyone lent a hand: typing up letters on a typewriter, handwriting forms, and dropping off film for development. In those days, local relationships could make a huge difference in the ease of each job.

A few things have changed now. Today, McCurdy Appraisals uses the latest technological advancements to ensure the fastest appraisals possible. Each employee is equipped with the best tools and most advanced technology available.

But, a few things haven’t changed. Just like always, McCurdy Appraisals treasures their local connections and knowledge. Respecting the relationships between neighbours and businesses gives us the best opportunities to complete jobs quickly, accurately, and efficiently. Just ask our neighbours.

Our Process & Systems (Estimating Systems)

Over the past nearly thirty years in the appraisal industry, we’ve created a streamlined process. However, we always adapt that method to best serve our clients. We focus on their needs, and tailor our procedures to fit.

We use two main estimating systems: Mitchell & Audatex. Our entire team is well-versed in the operation of both systems and can complete any job with either program. When and where applicable, we also complete Autosource, JD Power, and manual ACVs (Actual Cash Value).

Committed to Community

As a local company, we support programs that benefit our community. For the past 20 years, we’ve been extensively involved – through volunteer work and sponsorship – in supporting a number of local programs. Our main focus has been ensuring that community sports programs, hockey in particular, have remained available to children in our community.
